ABSTRACT
In spite of the treatments currently available for sinusitis, a not insignificant percentage of patients suffer from complications caused by the rhinosinusitis, with relapses and chronification of the process in some cases.
It is therefore necessary to find other alternatives that are able to improve treatment efficacy, diminishing the symptoms and the possible complications, without being associated with side effects. In recent years, a product obtained from plant extracts has been developed that facilitates natural secretion in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, thereby clearing the accumulated mucus.
The goal of this study was to analyse the plant extracts' effect on rhinosinusitis in a sample of 11 children and 24 adults.
The results of our study show that the plant extracts are useful in acute rhinosinusitis.
