We are close to the time when most of us go on vacation. After many atypical and complicated months due to COVID, it seems that thanks to the vaccines and the vaccination passport (EU COVID-19 Certificate), those who are lovers of traveling during their vacations will be able to do so with “a certain normality.”
Travelers with the certificate will most likely be able to bypass quarantine and additional testing requirements.
However, some areas and countries are safer than others since the risk of contagion is almost nil, and some are very desirable destinations.
These are some of the recommended countries.
1.- Tanzania
For those with a high budget, Tanzania is an excellent option.
One of the mythical landmarks of Tanzania is Mount Kilimanjaro, made up of three dormant volcanoes and the highest mountain in Africa.
Obviously, the other great attraction of this country is the national parks where you can see, among others, the so-called “Big 5” mammals: elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, and buffaloes. Parks. The best known are the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro.
Tanzania is open to tourism (you must be vaccinated against yellow fever) and carries out temperature controls upon arrival in the country. Upon returning to Spain, you must undergo quarantine at home.
2.- Madeira
This famous Portuguese island is another attractive destination and one of the safest places in Europe since the pandemic began.
Madeira is in the Atlantic Ocean, an island with lush flora and vegetation, beautiful landscapes, and spectacular viewpoints, among which Eira do Serrado stands out, one of the most beautiful places in Madeira with impressive views of Curral das Freiras (the Valley of the Nuns).
3.- Malta
Malta was the first country in the European Union to start vaccinating people over the age of 16 and has achieved herd immunity, with 70% of the adult population vaccinated with at least one dose and 42% of the population now fully vaccinated COVID-19.
Malta offers attractions for everyone: history buffs, hikers, boaters, or just strollers who want to soak up the natural splendour of the landscape.
Valletta, a beautifully decadent capital with its British influence, or the Rotunda of Mosta, which has the second-largest dome in Europe, are just some of the places to visit.
4.- Iceland
Iceland is known for its geysers, volcanoes, and hot springs, all with unpronounceable names. It also has the so-called Golden Circle, about 100 km from Reykjavik, including Gullfoss, Geysir, and Thingvellir, with waterfalls and geysers of incomparable beauty.
Iceland is the country with the lowest population density in Europe, which makes for a unique and pristine landscape.
It is advisable to travel in summer when temperatures are warm and the days long until the solstice when the sun never sets. The recommended months to see the famous Northern Lights are March and September.
5.- Croatia
Croatia is a small but diverse country located in the northwest of the Balkan Peninsula.
One of its greatest attractions is the Dalmatian Coast in the Adriatic Sea, a paradise for beach lovers and sailing enthusiasts.
Among the places to visit is Dubrovnik, a walled city nicknamed the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” and Rovinj, located on the Istrian peninsula, an archipelago of 20 islands with a picturesque old town.
You should also visit Pula, with a large and well-preserved Roman amphitheatre, and the island of Hvar, with its 13th-century ramparts, marble stone streets, Gothic palaces, impressive churches, and an imposing old fortress.
These are some of the destinations that are now considered safe. Even so, it is recommended, when not mandatory, to continue wearing a mask, maintain a safe distance and wash your hands frequently.
Finally, before booking your vacation, check the entry requirements for the country or countries you are visiting with official sources.
